MORE AITKEN BENEFIT JAMS

We’re all loving the love for Mike Aitken. All of these benefit jams are seriously amazing and showing how close our BMX lifestyle truly is. Much Love!!
Also throwing a Jam for Mike Aitken on November 9th, Mike Cottle and friends has some ramps set up at his buddy Matt’s house (all the roots ramps). Some sponsors have thrown in a ton of gear to give out. “Mikey has been a amazing guy and done nothing but been rad to me and my family since the first time I met him a little over 10 years ago. Let me know if there’s anything else I can do on my end over here in the FLA.” – Mike Cottle.
Also in Johanas Burg, South Africa Tyrone Bradly has a benefit jam too. Mike has traveled to SA a few times now and has made a large impact on the scene over there. Show some love and support this one for sure!
Thanks for throwing the benefit jam’s for Aitken. You’re doing the right thing for sure!! If anyone else wants to show the love and help out, attend a jam or get involved and put one together for Mr. Aitken.

Recently, Mike Aitken was in a severe BMX accident. He has severe head trauma. The medical bills will be enormous. You can help.
In collaboration with the 5050bmx, Odyssey is holding a raffle open to all those wanting to help out. $10 gets you 1 ticket, $20 gets you two and so on. What you will win is the bike in the flipbook above. To enter, please visit 5050bmx.com and click on one of the donate buttons at the bottom.

SURFACE SKIS MIKE AITKEN BENEFIT SKI AUCTION

It’s pretty awesome when other industries come over to the BMX world in time of need to lend a hand. Surface Skis is doing just that and has begun a ski auction for Mike Aitken.
Surface Skis has roots in BMX. Some of you may know the brand owner, Mike Schneider. He was heavily involved in BMX racing back in the 80’s, usually the smallest and youngest to jump the biggest doubles at any track, usually right next to Kris Park. His love has since evolved on to skiing and life in the mountains but does not shun to the life of BMX, or BMXers, like friend, Mike Aitken. He is definitely true to his roots.
Ski Technical info:
179 cm.
142 tip/112 waist/132 tail (mm)
The item up for auction is, fitingly, the Surface J.Eichhorst LTD Edition Ski valued at $600.
There’s nothing fancy about this auction. if you would like to place a bid on the skis simply email mike@surfaceskis.com or call (801) 733-2655.
You can also visit the Surface Blog as well for more info regarding the benefit.
Thank you!

Mike Aitken Update!

I nabbed thids picture and the words from Mikes Site
In true Aitken style, Mikey is fighting this with everything he has. Though still in a coma, when asked to hold up two fingers earlier today he was able to perform for a packed hospital room and was cheered on by family and friends.
Mike underwent surgery today for a tracheostomy and to insert a feeding tube into his stomach. He is now resting much more comfortably, having these tubes no longer running through his mouth.
The hospital waiting room has seen a constant stream of Mike’s dear friends laughing and telling stories of our beloved brother. There is a strong feeling of love and hope surrounding Mike, and today’s events have left everyone reassured that Mikey will fight his way through this.

About the Athlete Recovery Fund: ARF was established six short months ago after Stephen Murray was injured resulting in large costs surrounding medical benefits that insurance would not cover. With the help of partners like AST and other industry corporations, athlete donations and public donations we are well on our way to accomplishing our mission. We have already provided grants for three athletes who desperately needed financial support to cover expenses revolving around injury.
Mission Statement: To provide professional athletes in BMX, FMX and Skate Boarding with financial support after a severe injury and granting funds for rehabilitation, equipment, long-term disability and educational scholarships.
ARF is a 501(c)3 Non Profit Corporation based in California. Visit http://www.athleterecoveryfund.com/ for details on our effort and donate on the paypal link provided on the home page.
***This was an auction that was in the works for several weeks. Due to the recent injury that BMX Professional Mike Aitken sustained ARF would like to operate this auction for his benefit. Mike Aitken is a icon in BMX and rides with a unique style and passion for the sport. Mike is a proud father and husband. See below for his brother’s comment on his injury;
“Mike Aitken has been hospitalized and is in serious condition. While in Pennsylvania over the weekend, Mike was seriously injured when he over-rotated a 360. He is currently in the ICU unit and has not regained consciousness. His injuries include a fractured eye socket, sinus and both sides of his jaw. A CAT scan shows no swelling on the brain. As soon as any changes in his status are available, we will pass them on. Thank you for your faith, prayers, and support of Mike and his family. They are needed and greatly appreciated.” 10/6/2008
